Ancestry

My best friend and Mentor Anna who is 92.
Had this book of Ridgely Lake Co. Tennessee .Her husband and
My grandmother, daddy's mother's  family came from Lake Co.
It has been so much fun reading and finding Aunts and cousins
I never knew but they are parts of the person I am.

A treaty signed by the U.S. and Chickasaw Indians October
19, 1818 by Isaac Shelby and Andrew Jackson opened up
the settlement of West Tennessee. This is on the Mississippi
River which formed the  Reelfoot Lake.

A cousin in 1967 on main had a T. V. shop.

I found  two Aunts and where they went to church.
One was First Baptist Church in 1898 she was 19 and
married in 1899. The other went to Church of God Of
Prophecy something about  it was the first bush arbor built
in 1935. Will have to look that up (bush arbor)?

1937 flood Jan 25

remembered flood of 1935 news in 1988
 1935 flood remembered in 1987

remembered in 1987 , flood of 1935

The town had to be rebuilt more then once.
You should see the levees they have to this day.

My ancestors are all buried in Tiptonville  where
floods don't get that far. and most of hers are to.
You would think it would not be a good place to
live but it is rich farm land because of the floods
and where my Great
grandfather had a farm in 1800's is now owned
by Pic Sweet Vegetable company.

The Paris Architect

By Charles Belfoure

I have not been so emotional reading a book in a long time if ever.
It maybe that our times are some what  shaken up now.

As one said " Belfoure's portrayal of Vichy France is both disturbing
and captivating,( Library Journal Starred Review).

I see he wrote a book about (Baltimore Row-house) There is a story
in the Washington Post this week on the North Bradford Street  rowhouses
that they are  being ripped down after more then a century (1905). So much
history , waves of immigration--two World Wars.
Got to read his book , if it is half as good as this The Paris Architect--WOW!
